Aims and Objectives:
Participants will have the knowledge and ability to provide the initial management for a wide range of life-threatening emergencies such as the patient presenting with breathing difficulties, the shocked patient, the patient presenting with acute chest pain, altered level of consciousness, the collapsed patient, the overdose patient, the patient with acute headache, rashes, acute abdominal pain, renal failure and the patient presenting with hot or cold legs or hot or swollen joints. In addition, the Course covers data interpretation and emergency investigations such as chest x-ray evaluation and 12-lead ECG interpretation as well as haematological, electrolyte and blood gas analysis.
Target Audience:
The Advanced Medical Life Support Course is particularly designed for medical practitioners who might be called upon to recognize and manage a patient with an acute or life-threatening medical emergency.
Course Structure:
The Course provides a practical approach to the recognition and management of a wide spectrum of acute and life-threatening medical emergencies in adults. The Course consists of hands-on practical training, tutorials, case discussions, role-plays and data interpretation covering respiratory, neurological, dermatological, endocrine and metabolic disturbances.
Assessment and Preparation:
“Acute Medical Emergencies – The Practical Approach” is the comprehensive new 524-page Textbook which is supplied prior to Course participation, and should be studied thoroughly beforehand. In addition, a 120-page handbook “A Guide to the Management of Common Medical Emergencies in Adults” is provided to all participants upon registration. Participants must be in possession of an American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Certificate. Candidates will receive an Advanced Medical Life Support Certificate upon successful completion of the Course.

ACLS and PALS Update course

The ALS update courses are available to persons with a current ACLS or PALS certificate that is about to expire; and who have the most current edition of the manual.

Paediatric Advanced Life Support Provider

The Course is available to any healthcare professional who is registered as a Medical or Dental Practitioner, Intern, Junior Intern, Professional Nurse or Advanced Life Support Paramedic. Participants must be in possession of a valid AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider Certificate.

Advanced Neonatal Life Support Course

The Course is the evidence-based Neonatal Resuscitation Program designed by the American Academy of Pediatrics in association with the American Heart Association for healthcare professionals whose responsibilities may require them to manage or participate in the resuscitation of a newborn.

Emergency ECG and Pharmacology Course

The Course is designed for all healthcare professionals whose responsibilities require them to recognize and interpret life-threatening arrhythmias and ECG rhythms, and to provide initial emergency care and appropriate pharmacological interventions.

Advanced Medical Life Support for Doctors

The Advanced Medical Life Support Course is particularly designed for medical practitioners who might be called upon to recognize and manage a patient with an acute or life-threatening medical emergency.

Peadiatric ALS for Experienced Providers

The Course is available to any healthcare professional who is registered as a Medical or Dental Practitioner, Intern, Junior Intern, Professional Nurse or Advanced Life Support Paramedic. Participants must be in possession of a valid AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider Certificate.

ACLS for Experienced Providers

The Course is designed for any healthcare professional who is in possession of a current American Heart Association ACLS Provider Certificate. It is ideal for EMS, Emergency Department and ICU staff, and particularly medical practitioners who regularly participate in resuscitation attempts.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Provider

The Course is available to any healthcare professional who is registered as a Medical or Dental Practitioner, Intern, Junior Intern, Professional Nurse or Advanced Life Support Paramedic. Participants must be in possession of a valid AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider Certificate.
