Educational Perspectives
The aim of the Academy of Advanced Life Support is to help registered Doctors, Nurses and Advanced Life Support Paramedics, regardless of their level of skill and knowledge, improve their understanding, ability and confidence with respect to the techniques of resuscitation and emergency care.
Advanced Life Support Courses offered by the Academy of Advanced Life Support follow the scientific evidence-based guidelines of the American Heart Association (AHA), the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR). Lead Instructors are internationally qualified and world leaders in emergency cardiovascular care.
Comprehensive textbooks and educational memory aids are supplied to all participants upon enrolment. Internationally- recognized Certificates are awarded upon successful completion.
Academy of Advanced Life Support Courses have been accredited by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) for Continuing Professional Development (CEU Points), as well as being entry requirements for several College of Medicine of South Africa post-graduate Diploma and Specialist Examinations such as the Diploma in Primary Emergency Care (DipPEC(SA)), Higher Diploma in Emergency Medicine (H Dip Emerg Med(SA)), and the Fellowship of the College of Emergency Medicine of South Africa (FCEM(SA)).
